Theresa Slater, our President/CEO, is a professional Sign Language Interpreter and the founder of Empire Interpreting Service™, LLC. Theresa has grown the business from her home office in 2003 to (today) a multi location, multi faceted language service provider in the industry.
Theresa holds an NAD (National Association of the Deaf) Level IV certification, the RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) specialist certificate: OTC and RID: CI certification.
Theresa’s influence into the business world extends beyond the scope of Empire Interpreting Service. She is a co-author of a bi-weekly column in the Syracuse Post Standard; ‘Ask the Entrepreneur.’ She is a member of the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) and serves on advisory boards to other local businesses.
Theresa’s philosophy of providing services in a professional and caring manner is carried out into the community through the professional Interpreters that work through EIS.

Jay has spearheaded the expansion of the company into new areas, including our current headquarters in Syracuse, New York and his current office in Philadelphia, PA. He also handles the oversight of the ASL contracts.
Jay and his wife live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and have a passion for travel and running marathons.

Corissa Widger, our Director of Spoken Languages has been with EIS since September of 2007. As Director, Corissa spearheads the expansion of our Spoken Language services including onsite, over-the-phone, conference and simultaneous interpreting and document and website translations. Corissa also recruits our talented Interpreters and Translators and manages large contracts.
A native of Upstate New York, Corissa currently resides in Richmond, Virginia. She holds a B.S. in Health Science from Keene State College in New Hampshire. She also is a Dale Carnegie graduate in Skills to Success & Leadership Training for Managers.

Trevor Slater began working with EIS in October of 2007 as an outside consultant and has recently been promoted to Director of Advertising Technologies.
Heading our first out-of-state satellite office, Trevor meshes his intimate knowledge of the Charlotte Business landscape and technological savvy as he manages EIS's viral marketing department.
Trevor also brings a unique perspective to the EIS team as he was born profoundly Deaf and gained his hearing later into childhood. We look forward to utilizing Trevor's experience in our continued growth.

Susan Urben, our Chief Financial Officer (CFO), joined our team in June 2011 as the Bookkeeper for our Syracuse office. She brings an extensive financial and business management background, with over 15 years in the banking industry.
A native of the Philadelphia area, Susan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Colgate University. She has also completed the NY State Bankers’ Association School of Management and achieved a Certificate of Completion from the College for Financial Planning.
In addition to playing an active role in many civic and community organizations, Susan enjoys reading, traveling and music. She is the proud mother of two grown children.

Eva Siskowski is the Executive Assistant to our President. She began working with EIS in December of 2014. Eva graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Oswego in Upstate NY with a B.A. in French and Communication Studies.
Eva brings a broad range of experience in culture and languages to EIS, along with her business background and skill set.
In addition to her responsibilities as executive assistant, she also works alongside our Spoken and Sign Language department Directors to service those contracts.
Outside of EIS, Eva is the Color Guard Coordinator at West Genesee School District in Camillus, NY, and is also a color guard instructor at East Syracuse-Minoa School District in East Syracuse, NY.
In her rare spare time, Eva enjoys traveling, live theater, and spending time with family and friends.

Stacey Short, our Business Advisor, has been with EIS since the beginning of 2004. Stacey worked side by side with the President to build the company over the first 8 years and continues to maintain an intimate knowledge of the business. This history with EIS and her business acumen make her the ideal person to help guide the company and act as the President’s consultant.
