Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Why are we supporting research to cure Cystic Fibrosis?

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. A defective gene causes the body to produce an abnormally thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. These thick secretions also obstruct the pancreas, preventing digestive enzymes from reaching the intestines to help break down and absorb food.

My best friend had CF. He was a handsome, charismatic young father and husband. He loved sports, (had worked for the Yankees) and loved his fellow man (had become a youth Pastor) and affected everyone he touched in a positive and loving way. He died this year at the age of 48. This amazing person with so much energy, love and compassion left us without warning. His death has devastated everyone who loved him.

The CF Foundation has made amazing strides in research. Parents 40 years ago were told their baby with CF would never live to attend school. 20 years ago parents were told their newly diagnosed child would never live past their teens. Today, due to research the average age of survival is mid-30's. My friend lived until he was 48. Through research a cure is close at hand. Please help us support the CF Foundation with your support. In memory of my best friend ... Dale Weeks. Thank you.
